Technical Director, Mozambique

José Tique is the FGH Technical Director, based in Maputo. Tique leads a multidisciplinary technical team that provides support to HIV, TB, and malaria prevention, and care and treatment programs in multiple provinces in Mozambique. He has over a decade of experience in the implementation of HIV programs in Mozambique at the district, provincial and national levels. Prior to his current role, and with FGH support, Tique served the Ministry of Health´s National HIV Program as the Senior National Quality Improvement Technical Advisor. He led the development and nationwide implementation of a novel standardized HIV care and treatment quality improvement strategy implemented at more than 450 health facilities. He also participated in the development and implementation of various HIV prevention and care and treatment policies, guidelines, and protocols for program evaluation, including the national HIV test and start guidelines implementation protocol. Tique earned his medical degree from Eduardo Mondlane University. He was a recipient of the Fogarty AIDS International Training and Research Program scholarship, with which he earned a Master of Public Health from Vanderbilt University.
