What is the ECMO Checklist? As Seen below, the Circuit Checklist is a double check. This is performed by.... 1. RN-RN when ANY transfer of care is occurring: (Lunches, Assignment change, Shift change)
2. RN-Perfusion to preform on transports:You preform this checklist BEFORE leaving the ICU, Once you get to your destination (i.e. CT Scan) when you leave your destination, and when you get back to the room.
Every time you preform this circuit checklist, it is considered a dual independent sign-off. These are documented in eStar and cosigned by both Nurses/Perfusionists.
NEW PRODUCT CRASH CART AIRWAY DRAWER
To standardize processes and improve 'down time' of carts being processed in service center. VUMC Has standardized their airway drawers into 5 packaged boxes. None of the contents in the drawers are new, simply the way they are packaged.

These will not replace the Airway Bags which are going to continue to be an adjunct to the crash cart airway drawer, used for RSI and Rapid Responses

Supplies on Backorder: Butterfly Blood Collection Needles
VUMC's previous product supplier of butterfly needles for blood collection currently lists them on backorder with no updated release date.
Substitutions for this product will be a mixture of devices with different safety mechanisms. Please view product inservice below. Limited gauge sizes are available.
Concentrated Dobutamine Effective 12/6/2021 We will no longer be stocking two concentrations of Dobutamine, VUH is transitioning to only the concentrated formulation. Dobutamine 1000mg/250mL (4mg/mL) is safe for peripheral and central administration. This is available in the Omnicell on 5N! Ensure that you are programming your alaris pumps accordingly.
Norepinephrine has a new diluent Norepinephrine (Levophed) is now going to be diluted in D5W. The only change this will make to your nursing care is remembering to be mindful of blood glucose if your patient is on high doses of Levo.

eCDR Narcotic Infusion Change
Starting December 14, 2021, eStar now requires you to document "Volume Primed Wasted" when discontinuing and wasting narcotic infusions to account for the volume remaining in the IV tubing. Check your LMS for the "eCDR Changes for Narcotic Infusions" modules that were required to complete.
