Course Overview
Presenters will discuss best practices in the diagnosis and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders for adults with a variety of medical diagnoses. This conference will focus on practical approaches to managing these patients and will emphasize evidence-based techniques that can be implemented in daily evaluation and treatment.

Respiratory and cough function in dysphagia management
Current trends in multidisciplinary care of patients with tracheostomy
Functional disorders of communication and swallowing
Key note speaker focusing on role of dysphagia in aspiration pneumonia

1. Participants will be able to list 4 management methods of functional communication and swallowing disorders
2. Participants will be describe two different drug classes for the treatment of dementia
3. Participants will be able to list three different ways to respond to microaggressions in the workplace
4. Participants will apply evidence-based of principles of managing respiratory and cough function in dysphagia therapy
5. Participants will describe predictors of pneumonia in people with and without dysphagia
