Molecular Biology of Colorectal Cancers in Two African Countries

NIGERIA: Dr. Leon Raskin (VICC member) leads an ongoing research focusing on molecular biology of colorectal cancer in Nigeria with a collaborator from University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. The study is focused on the molecular and genetic landscape of 150 colorectal tumors. This ongoing collaborative project is the largest effort of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa.

UGANDA: Dr. Leon Raskin (VICC member) leads an ongoing research focusing on molecular biology of colorectal cancer in Uganda with collaborators from the Cancer Institute of Uganda in Kampala. The study is focused on the molecular and genetic landscape of 200 colorectal tumors. This ongoing collaborative project is a part of the largest effort of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa.
