Vanderbilt Scholars in HIV and Heart, Lung, Blood and Sleep Research website is now up

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Vanderbilt Scholars in HIV and Heart, Lung, Blood and Sleep Research (V-SCHOLARS) website is now up and running. The program provides two years of support for mentored research, using a unique dual-mentor structure – one mentor from the HIV/immunology field and one from a HLBS field – and is open to junior MDs and PhDs from Vanderbilt University Medical Center or Meharry Medica

Innovative Statewide Forum brings together Community Health Workers from throughout Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. A packed room with almost 100 attendees at Saint Thomas Hospital West listened as Raisha Montgomery recalled a home visit with a single mother and her asthmatic son. As a Community Health Educator for the Methodist Le Bonheur Community Outreach Division in Memphis, Montgomery was accustomed to working well away from the spotlight. Yet, the statewide forum’s sole purpose was shining a light on the efforts of Community Health Workers (CHWs) like her.

‘Getting Social with MVSA’ brings together Meharry and Vanderbilt students

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Students from both Meharry Medical College and Vanderbilt University Medical Center gathered at E.S. Rose Park on September 29, 2018, for the Meharry-Vanderbilt Student Alliance’s (MVSA) “Getting Social with MVSA” event.   Bringing students together “They kicked off their first event of the academic year in order to bring students from both institutions together,” Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance Program Manager Pilar Prather, M.Ed explained.

Meharry Medical College will host live stream viewing of TED Med Live 2018 Nov. 16 – 17

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Meharry Medical College will again host a TEDMED live stream viewing this year with TEDMED Live 2018. The two-day event will livestream the official TEDMED conference, as well as provide networking opportunities, discussion panels and thought-provoking art exhibits. TEDMED helps deliver novel ideas to the people on the front lines of health and medicine around the world and falls in line with Meharry’s mission to improve service to underserved communities.
