Andrew Wiese, MPH, completed a two-year CDC/CSTE Applied Epidemiology Fellowship working as a part of the Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) team at the Tennessee Department of Health. Prior to the fellowship, Andrew earned a Bachelor's degree with a focus in microbiology at Southeast Missouri State University and earned the Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology at Saint Louis University. For his Ph.D., he worked with Dr. Carlos Grijalva and his team to examine the association between opioid use and the risk of infectious disease among the elderly population of Tennessee. Andrew's primary research interests are infectious disease and pharmacoepidemiology. His hobbies include hiking, camping and intramural sports with his wife, Gabrielle.
