Rachel Herth, PhD

VMAP Program Manager

Rachel Herth is a Program Manager at the Vanderbilt Memory & Alzheimer’s Center. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Political Science from Colgate University as an Alumni Memorial Scholar, where she worked in the Center for Language & Brain, investigating how gestures and physical movements influence memory during second language acquisition. She then moved to Bloomington, IN to pursue a dual-PhD, where she was awarded the President’s Diversity Fellowship. Rachel completed her PhD in Psychological & Brain Sciences and Cognitive Science in 2022, studying how we coordinate and control our posture and limb movements while we complete motor tasks. She also previously worked in the Infant Cognition Lab at Northwestern University, where she studied how young children learn about the lawful properties of the world, such as gravity.

Outside of research, Rachel enjoys running and gives back to the fitness community as a certified group fitness instructor and running coach.
