Site Description
Established in 2011, the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) is the only state university in Ghana dedicated solely to training healthcare professionals. UHAS is comprised of seven schools: Allied Health Sciences, Basic and Biomedical Sciences, Medicine, Nursing and Midwifery, Public Health, Pharmacy, and Institute of Health Research. The University currently enrolls almost 4,000 students with a faculty/staff of more than 600. VECD Fellows primarily work on malaria research with resources from UHAS and Cornell. Other research projects focus on topics such as sickle cell disease in children and community-based health services.
