Research Topic: Reproductive and sexual health services
Ms. Shewale will spend her fellowship year at the National AIDS Research Institute in Pune under the mentorship of Seema Sahay, PhD, Ameeta Kalokhe, MD and Mohammed Ali, MBChB, MSc, MBA. Her research will focus on understanding the use of reproductive and sexual health services among female sex workers in rural India.
Ms. Shewale received her MPH from the University of Pune. Her dissertation focused on establishing a community-based network to develop an early detection and response system for disease outbreaks in urban India. Since completing her MPH, she has worked in remote rural areas of India where lack of access to healthcare is prominent. Ms. Shewale is currently pursuing her PhD at the National AIDS Research Institute. Her research interests lie in understanding the determinants of access to health care services in rural India and other resource-limited settings.
