Dr. Sugut is a fellow at the Cardiovascular Pulmonary Disease (CVPD) Centre of Excellence in Eldoret. His career goals are to spearhead research on cardiovascular disease in western Kenya while advancing the practice of cardiology in the referral hospital where he is currently working. While growing up in the profession, the people who have influenced his career decisions include his high school teachers and his professors at medical school. Dr. Gerry Bloomfield, a past Fogarty fellow and current faculty member at Duke, has also been of great influence, especially regarding his decision to pursue research in cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Sugut holds a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Nairobi and a master’s degree in internal medicine from Moi University
