Dr. Mazariegos will spend her fellowship year at the Institute of Nutrition of Central America and Panama (INCAP) in Guatemala City under the mentorship of Aryeh Stein, PhD and Manuel Ramirez-Zea, PhD. Her research will focus on the consequences of COVID-19 pandemic on food insecurity, socioeconomic status and emotional well-being in Guatemala. Dr. Mazariegos completed her doctoral training in Population Nutrition at the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) in Mexico. She is currently a researcher at the INCAP Research Center for the Prevention of Chronic Diseases (CIIPEC). As a result of her research training over the past ten years, she has developed a strong background in nutritional epidemiology and she has been successful in generating research outputs internationally.
