Dr. Weingard will spend his fellowship year at the University of Cape Town/Red Cross Children's War Memorial Hospital in Cape Town under the mentorship of Lauren Franz, MBChP, MPH, Nathan Thielman MD, MPH, Petrus DeVries, MBChB, FRCPsych, PhD and Papani Gasela, MBChB, FCPsych. His research will focus on the current referral process and implementation of collaborative care with Child and Adolescent Mental Health. Dr. Weingard is a Faculty Clinical Associate with the Department of Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Duke University where he recently completed his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship. He is a board certified psychiatrist with the American Academy of Psychiatry and Neurology and has been working as faculty in the role of Hospital- Based Consultation-Liaison and with the Pediatric Autoimmune Brain Disorders Clinic at Duke. Dr. Weingard is a budding researcher whose career goal is capacity building/ improved access for pediatric mental health care among underserved populations in the US, Sub-Saharan Africa, and globally.
