Research Topic: Feasibility of screening and integration of care in patients with adrenal insufficiency and HIV

Dr. Ramalan will spend his fellowship year at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Kano under the mentorship of Muktar Aliyu, MBBS, DrPH, Zubairu Iliyasu, MBBS, MPH, PhD and Ibrahim Gezawa MD. His research will focus on integration of care for adrenal insufficiency in patients with HIV infection. Dr. Ramalan is an endocrinologist and has interest in epidemiology and endocrine disorders in HIV. He received his primary medical degree from the University of Jos, Nigeria, a masters degree in Pharmacology from Bayero University Kano and fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Internal Medicine with subspecialty in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. Dr. Ramalan's research work has been on the epidemiology of diabetes mellitus and endocrine disorders in resource poor settings.
