Research Topic: Nutrition and chronic inflammatory disorders
Dr. Klein will spend her fellowship year at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra under the mentorship of Michael DeBaun MD, MPH and Samuel Oppong MBChB. Her research will focus on nutritional risk factors for infant birth weight in pregnancies complicated by sickle cell disease. Dr. Klein received her medical doctoral training at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed residency in pediatrics at Duke University Medical Center. She is currently a pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition fellow at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Her long-term research goal is to become a physician-scientist focused on the role of nutrition in chronic inflammatory disorders in low- and middle-income countries.
