Research Topic: HIV related Non-communicable diseases and metabolic syndrome in Zambia

Dr. Fwemba will spend his fellowship year at University of Zambia School of Public Health in Lusaka under the mentorship of Bryan Shepherd, PhD and Samuel Bosomprah, PhD. His research will focus on Predicting Longitudinal Dynamic Clinical Outcomes of HIV related Non Communicable Diseases and Metabolic Syndrome in Zambia (MetS) using a Bayesian Multi-State Modelling Approach. Mr. Fwemba is a bio statistical Fellow supporting Vanderbilt PhD students as well as mentoring masters’ level students from the department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. He has just completed his PhD studies in Biostatistics with specialization in Bayesian Method and Implementation Research at University of Ghana. His PhD project was supported by Tropical Disease Research/ World Health Organization. Mr. Fwemba is a budding researcher whose career goal is to contribute to finding solutions to reduce the burden of HIV and other metabolic syndrome associated NCDs in Zambia, Sub-Saharan Africa and globally.
