Dr. Ding will spend his fellowship year at The National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention, China in Beijing under the mentorship of Han-Zhu Qian, PhD and Ning Wang, MD. His research will focus on a pilot study of stepwise non-invasive screening for hepatitis C treatment eligibility with the aspartate aminotransferase-platelet ratio index (APRI) and the fibrosis-4 score (FIB-4) among persons with HIV/HCV co-infection in Kaiyuan, China.
Dr. Ding is interested in research because he wants to play an integral role in the prevention and control of communicable diseases. For two decades, he has been making valuable contributions in these areas. He enjoys the challenge, excitement, and rewards of solving a research problem and working on a team. He completed his PhD training at the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC). He has more than 12 years of health-related research experience. Currently, Dr. Ding is an attending physician in epidemiology and biostatistics in the Division of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) and Sexual Transmitted Disease (STD) Prevention and Treatment at China CDC. He is responsible for national hepatitis C prevention and treatment programs, as well as managing training.
