Research Topic: Peripartum cardiomyopathy and its risk factors at the University Teaching Hospital and surrounding clinics in Lusaka, Zambia

Dr. Strasserking will spend her fellowship year at the University of Zambia and University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka under the mentorship of Fastone Goma, MBChB, PhD, Douglas Heimburger, MD, MS, and  Dr. Julie Damp (VUMC Cardiovascular Diseases). Her research will focus on describing the phenotype of peripartum cardiomyopathy and the effects of HIV on recovery. Dr. Strasserking completed her undergraduate training at George Washington University and her doctoral training at the University of Texas. She completed a Residency in Internal Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis before moving to Nashville, TN for a Cardiology Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She has received numerous awards and scholarships for her accomplishments and leadership.
