Medicine/Microbiology, Cornell University
Fellowship Site: GHESKIO, Haiti
Research Interests: Antiphospholipid antibodies as a diagnostic test for active TB and a diagnostic marker in HIV infected patients with active TB.
Curtis O’Neal is a concurrent medical and microbiology doctoral student at Cornell University. As a joint MD/PhD candidate at Weill Cornell Medical College, Curtis has been conducting basic science research on the B1 host immune response elicited by M tuberculosis infection. As a Fogarty Fellow Curtis will take the knowledge gained in his basic science studies to the GHESKIO in Haiti to determine if antiphospholipid antibodies could be used as a diagnostic test for active TB, especially HIV infected patients with active TB.
