Research Topic: HIV-free infant survival by duration of breastfeeding practices and ART use: An integrated community-based health education and follow-up package in selected sites in Zambia

Dr. Hazemba will spend her fellowship year at the University of Zambia School of Public Health in Lusaka under the mentorship of Muktar Aliyu, MD, MPH, DrPH and Bellington Vwalika, BSc, MBChB, MSc. Her research will focus on adding evidence to inform policy on improved breastfeeding for HIV exposed infants. 

Dr. Hazemba is a faculty member in the School of Public Health at the University of Zambia. Her career goal is to strengthen her research skills in conducting high quality and impactful public health intervention projects for her country with focus on maternal, newborn and child health.  

Dr. Hazemba is a recipient of the African Doctoral Research Fellowship and Southern Africa Consortium for Research Excellence. She has made significant contributions to research among pregnant women and new mothers with HIV.
