Dr. Tan has been involved in research, much of it NIH funded, since she received her masters degree in epidemiology in 2007, and has had various roles on the ground with the Shanghai Cohort Study, a massive longitudinal study on health and life-style in China as well as the population-based cohort study, The Shanghai Women’s Health Study. Dr. Tan is well accomplished and immersed in epidemiological research, and is pursuing her goal of becoming an independent researcher of cancer epidemiology. This fellowship would be her first opportunity to independently lead research, under the mentorship of Vanderbilt University and Shanghai Cancer Institute.
