Infectious Diseases Fellow, Duke University
Fellowship Site: Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre, Tanzania
Research Interests: The Impact and Social Ecology of Bacterial Zoonoses in Northern Tanzania
Dr. Rubach is pursuing further training and experience in clinical research under the mentorship of John Crump, MB, ChB, DTM&H as a collaborator in his on-going study, “The Impact and Social Ecology of Bacterial Zoonoses in Northern Tanzania” (Fogarty International Center 1R01TW009237). The Fogarty Global Health fellowship will give him the opportunity to immerse himself in the daily operations of an established clinical research site in the developing world as well as participate in the daily operations of a well-equipped clinical microbiology laboratory. These collateral benefits of collaborating on the bacterial zoonoses study will be instrumental to Dr. Rubach’s professional development, as working at and/or directing an international field site and establishing clinical microbiology capacity are two enterprises that he plans to be hallmark features of his career.
