The general research interests of the faculty for the Center for Human Nutrition reflect the nutrition care of the patient population served. These interests include: improvement of nutrition support techniques, and outcomes, utilizing nutrients and pharmaceutical agents to reverse malnutrition, utilizing foods, dietary supplements and pharmaceutical agents for weight management, and interventions to reduce the comorbidities associated with obesity and the metabolic syndrome.
The CORE provides a valuable resource for all investigators (within Vanderbilt and at other institutions/organizations) who do not have ready access to personnel with the training and expertise in state-of-the-science methodology for obtaining valid and realiable assessment and analyses of dietary intakes, nutritional status, body composition and metabolism Services are tailored to meet the specific needs of the investigator and research aims. Investigators pay a “fee-for-service” that covers all costs related to the methods or services chosen.
