Vanderbilt University is committed to promoting good health and meeting the medical needs of its students. The unexpected occurrence and expense of a medical condition can interrupt and even end a student’s academic career. It is for this reason that we offer the Student Injury and Sickness Plan provided for the 20-21 Term by Gallagher Student Health & Special Risk.
Vanderbilt University requires all eligible students to be covered by a health insurance plan that is comparable to or exceeds the Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan.
Domestic students who have other insurance that exceeds or equals the Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan may submit a request to waive the insurance. International students are not allowed to waive the Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan.
Information for the 20-21 Term: If you are a domestic student and do not wish to participate in the Student Injury and Sickness Plan offered through the University, you must complete an online waiver form indicating your other insurance information. The online waiver form must be completed no later than August 10 for Summer Admits, August 10 for Fall Admits, and January 1 for Spring Admits or you will remain enrolled in the plan offered by the university and will be responsible for paying the insurance premium. After submission of the waiver form, you will receive an email notification (at the email address you provide) indicating if your waiver has been approved, if additional information is needed, or if your waiver has been denied. All students who wish to waive coverage are required to complete an online waiver form at the beginning of each academic year.
