Research Description

Dr. Kronenberg uses advanced imaging with cardiac magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography to study patients with heart failure. Recent studies have shown beneficial left ventricular remodeling, enhanced subendocardial myocardial perfusion with improved left ventricular oxidative metabolism and pump efficiency after treatment with anti-failure medications including mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists.
Other work includes the use of radionuclide techniques to study vasoreactivity of the abdominal vasculature in patients with hypertension (Italo Biaggioni, PI).
Dr. Kronenberg is also the institutional principal investigator for the study, ISCHEMIA, NHLBI, an evaluation of treatment strategies for patients with stable ischemic heart disease.

Clinical Interest

Dr. Kronenberg has a practice of general cardiology and heart failure. He is Director, Nuclear Cardiology and Heart Station, Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute.
