I direct the pediatric stroke program at Vanderbilt University and previously directed a similar program at Johns Hopkins University. My research focuses on predicting and improving outcome after hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke in children and young adults. Our lab focuses on brain imaging, cerebral autoregulation and on outcome assessment in children with stroke. I am a co-investigator in the International Pediatric Stroke Study and several other multicenter NIH funded trials in children with stroke, including Vascular Effects of Infection in Pediatric Stroke, the Silent Infarct Transfusion Trial and study of hydroxyurea for primary stroke prevention in young children.
