Clinical Interest

Jake Block, MD, currently serves as Associate Professor and Vice Chair for Clinical Operations at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, within the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences. He is the current Chief Medical Officer of a number of Vanderbilt Imaging Systems facilities throughout the Nashville area.

After graduating from medical school at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Dr. Block completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Following this, he pursued subspecialty fellowship training in Emergency and Musculoskeletal Radiology. He now functions as Section Chief of Musculoskeletal and Emergency Radiology at Vanderbilt, and had previously directed the fellowship training program within that section. He holds joint appointments as Associate Professor in the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation, as well as Emergency Medicine. He also holds an appointment as adjunct instructor at Belmont University in Nashville.

Dr. Block has served as a national board examiner for the American Board of Radiology, and has lectured nationally on the subjects of emergency and musculoskeletal radiology as well as radiology practice management. He contributes frequently to the body of research on these topics.
