Clinical Interest

Filip Banovac, MD, is a graduate of Duke University and attended medical school at Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. After a residency at Georgetown, he completed the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Postdoctoral Fellowship at the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute and fellowship training in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Stanford. He joined the faculty at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2015 as the section chief of Interventional Radiology.

His research interests include augmented instrument navigation and precision delivery of instruments into imaging targets. He was a collaborator at the NIH Center for Interventional Oncology. In 2009 he was awarded the Gary Becker Young Investigator Award by the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), where he has served as the Research Policy division chair, vice chair and currently chair of the SIR Foundation.
