Research Description

Dr. Langerman focuses on the intersection of ethics, data science, and management in the operating room, and he has faculty positions in the Vanderbilt Center for Biomedical Ethics and Society and the Vanderbilt Institute for Surgery and Engineering. Dr. Langerman holds a masters degree in clinical and administrative data science and is a fellowship-trained clinical medical ethicist. He is also Chief Medical Officer of ExplORer Surgical, a startup he co-founded that specializes in real-time surgical data acquisition.

Clinical Interest

Dr. Langerman is a fellowship-trained head and neck cancer and microvascular reconstructive surgeon. He has a diverse surgical practice, with special interest in parapharyngeal and infratemporal fossa lesions, complex airway reconstruction, and advanced cutaneous and parotid neoplasms. He has innovated novel endoscopic procedures for pharyngoceles and novel reconstructive procedures for long-segment tracheal stenosis. Dr. Langerman also manages the head and neck cancer data research enterprise at Vanderbilt.
