The PCC has psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and psychiatric residents on staff who are available by appointment for medication evaluations, consultations, and in some cases short term medication management. These services are only available for registered students.
If you would like to schedule an appointment with one of these providers, please click here and complete the requested information. You will discuss your request with the phone assessment counselor who will guide you in the next steps. If your need for medication is urgent and you are in distress the phone assessment counselor may discuss referral to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Emergency Department. If you are in distress please let the person scheduling the appointment know.
Sometimes students discuss with their therapist a possible medication assessment. When this request is made the therapist will request a consultation with the medical team to determine the need for a medical consultation or full medical assessment. If you are requesting medication management at the PCC and are already on medication the team requests that you provide records documenting your current medication treatment from your home provider. This will help in determination of services.
Once scheduled, please be on time for psychiatric appointments. If you are more than 10 minutes late, your appointment may have to be rescheduled.
Note that we encourage students to continue to work with their home provider if continuing medication without the need for significant adjustments. Please also be aware that students should identify resources in the community or at home for management of medication during extended times away from campus such as the summer months or study abroad.
