Last year, Metro Drug Coalition (MDC) along with other state coalitions participated in Pearls &amp; Bowties for Babies, a community NAS social media awareness campaign. MDC asked people in the community to wear pearls or a bowtie on the first Friday in October to signify raising awareness about Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome and post a picture on social media with a suggested post like, “I’m wearing my pearls/bowtie in support of NAS Awareness Month” and using the hashtag #NASMonthTN. </p> <p>They had a great community response to this and now they are gearing up for this year's event happening on October 6! MDC would love to have other communities across the state also promote this to have a full statewide initiative together to bring awareness to this important issue. They have partnered with local media outlets to do promotion and will be making a graphic for social media to share. This graphic can be tailored with your logo on it for you to use in promotion.</p> <p>If your coalition or organization is interested in participating in this campaign, you can contact Deborah Crouse, Media Relations &amp; Project Director at Metro Drug Coalition by email - <a href="mailto:dcrouse@metrodrug.org">dcrouse@metrodrug.org</a>. </p> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-lockdown-auth field--type-string field--label-above"> <div class="field__label">Lockdown Auth</div> <div class="field__item">1</div> </div> Wed, 13 Sep 2017 15:43:25 +0000 Visitor 123 at https://www.vumc.org/nas 2017 International Conference on Opioids https://www.vumc.org/nas/nas-and-opioid-policy-events/2017-international-conference-opioids <span class="field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden">2017 International Conference on Opioids</span> <span class="field field--name-uid field--type-entity-reference field--label-hidden"><span lang="" typeof="schema:Person" property="schema:name" datatype="">Visitor</span></span> <span class="field field--name-created field--type-created field--label-hidden">Mon, 02/13/2017 - 13:55</span> <a href="/nas/blog-post-rss/83" class="feed-icon" title="Subscribe to 2017 International Conference on Opioids"> RSS: <i class="fa fa-rss-square"></i> </a> <div class="field field--name-field-barista-posts-author field--type-string field--label-hidden field__item">Date: June 11-13, 2017</div> <div class="clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item"><p>OPIOIDS IN PAIN MANAGEMENT: THE FUSION OF SCIENCE AND PRACTICE</p>&#13; &#13; <p>Pain is among the most common complaints in primary care, including those with chronic symptoms. Opioids are medications that relieve pain. Taken as prescribed, opioids can be used to manage pain safely and effectively. They are cost effective and allow increased numbers of patients to return to active productive lives in society. Yet, while opioids have been with us for over 4000 years, the landscape of opioid therapies is rapidly evolving. Federal and state regulations are swiftly changing to address the current opioid epidemic. New formulations and treatment options are emerging that may reduce inherent risk to patients. Education is key to staying current and maximizing the effectiveness of opioids in clinical practice.</p>&#13; &#13; <p>For more information: <a href="http://www.opioidconference.org/">http://www.opioidconference.org/</a></p>&#13; </div> <div class="field field--name-field-lockdown-auth field--type-string field--label-above"> <div class="field__label">Lockdown Auth</div> <div class="field__item">1</div> </div> Mon, 13 Feb 2017 19:55:51 +0000 Visitor 83 at https://www.vumc.org/nas National Rx Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit https://www.vumc.org/nas/nas-and-opioid-policy-events/national-rx-drug-abuse-and-heroin-summit <span class="field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden">National Rx Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit</span> <span class="field field--name-uid field--type-entity-reference field--label-hidden"><span lang="" typeof="schema:Person" property="schema:name" datatype="">Visitor</span></span> <span class="field field--name-created field--type-created field--label-hidden">Wed, 02/08/2017 - 14:51</span> <a href="/nas/blog-post-rss/70" class="feed-icon" title="Subscribe to National Rx Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit"> RSS: <i class="fa fa-rss-square"></i> </a> <div class="field field--name-field-barista-posts-author field--type-string field--label-hidden field__item">Date: April 17 - 20, 2017</div> <div class="clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item"><p>"The National Rx Drug Abuse &amp; Heroin Summit is where solutions are formulated, stakeholders convene, and change begins.
