Dr. Joey V. Barnett serves as Professor of Pharmacology, Medicine, Pediatrics, and Pathology, Microbiology & Immunology and as Acting Chair of the Department of Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He also directs the Office of Medical Student Research and is Assistant Dean of Physician-Researcher Training. His research focused on the mechanisms that regulate the development and homeostasis of the cardiovascular system has resulted in over 75 original papers, reviews, and book chapters. He has a longstanding interest in mentoring undergraduate, graduate, and medical students. Dr. Barnett directs an NIH-funded Ph.D. training program in Pharmacology and is co-chair of the medical school admissions committee at Vanderbilt.
