A. Dexter Samuels, Ph.D., MHA currently serves as the Senior Vice President for Student Affairs & Executive Director, Center for Health Policy at Meharry Medical College. In this capacity he provides the direction and leadership of the Office of Admissions and Records, Registrar, Student Life, Financial Aid, Counseling Center, Library, Center for Educational Development and Support and the Health Policy Center. Dr. Samuels’ academic background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Michigan State University, a Master of Science degree in Health Care Administration from Western Kentucky University, and has received his Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Public Administration at Tennessee State University. Dr. Samuels is a graduate of the Nashville Health Care Council Fellows Class of 2016; Leadership Middle Tennessee Class of 2003, as well as the Tennessee Government Executive Institute Class of 1997. He is also a recipient of the 2007 Kettering Foundation Public Scholars Fellowship. He is currently the Chair for the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority Board of Directors, serves on the Board of Directors for the Martha O’Bryan Center, and was most recently appointed as the District Chair for the Boy Scouts of America, Middle Tennessee Council Nashboro district.
