Barbara Jacobson is Associate Professor and Associate Director for Medical Speech-Language Pathology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She has been Director of Speech Sciences and Disorders at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and has worked in a wide variety of settings.  Her interests include patient-related outcomes in communication and swallowing disorders and hospital-based practice.  She received her master’s and doctoral degrees in speech-language pathology from the University of Cincinnati.  She is interested in refining interprofessional education competencies for speech-language pathology students across the continuum of care.  In the past few years, there has been increasing emphasis on IPE training and practice from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association for speech-language pathologists and audiologists.  She has participated in the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance IPE Faculty since 2013.
