MVA team volunteers at Nashville Rescue Mission

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance team and community members joined volunteers at the Nashville Rescue Mission Monday, Dec. 14, to serve lunch for the city's homeless and low income residents. Additionally, the MVA collected and donated needed items -- including tissue paper, shampoo and other necessities -- to Crestview Health and Rehabilitation Center.
The projects were part of an effort by the MVA to give back to the community during the holiday season.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Homelessness is a problem in both urban and rural settings. Rural homelessness can be tied to poverty, lack of affordable and adequate housing options, high unemployment rates and the remote and isolated nature of rural settings. Individual circumstances, socio-economic structures and environmental circumstances can all lead to homelessness in both urban and rural environment.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - On Oct. 29, nearly 100 community and healthcare leaders gathered at Saint Thomas Midtown to celebrate the accomplishments of the Safety Net Consortium of Middle Tennessee and Project Access Nashville Specialty Care. The breakfast celebration was hosted by the Nashville Academy of Medicine and Saint Thomas Health, a member of Ascension, the nation’s largest Catholic and non-profit health system.
