The Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance and the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center will hold a joint seminar titled "Address Social Determinants of Cancer Health Disparities Using a Community-Based Participatory Approach" on Thursday, Feb. 25, at noon. Chanita Hughes-Halbert, PhD will be the featured speaker.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Kimberly Jackson, the founder and sole proprietor of HIDE (Health Impacts of Degraded Environments), has always been interested in public policy and urban planning. “HIDE was directly the result of my masters work at Lipscomb Academy,” Jackson recalled.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. On Wednesday, Feb. 17, the Department of Internal Medicine and P. Renee Brown Obi, M.D.’84 will present the Todd - Brown Heritage Lecture Medical Grand Rounds at the Kresge Learning Resource Center from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. The lecture, titled “JNC-8 vs SPRINT: What Should Be the Blood Pressure Target in Black Hypertensive Patients?” will be held in Lecture Hall 1.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Community Research Partners (CRP) will present "Hotels Shouldn't Hurt: A Preliminary Report on the Health and Human Rights Crisis in Nashville Hospitality" March 4 from 8:30 - 10 a.m. 

​NASHVILLE, Tenn. Chante Stubbs, MPH, CPH recently attended the Harvard Macy Institute Program for Educators in Health Professions in Boston, Mass. The program was comprised of a series of courses and workshops aimed at enhancing the professional development of educators in the health professions. It was built around six major themes:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Jacquelyn Favours, who recently joined the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance as Program Coordinator II, hopes to draw on her experience in data collection and analysis to further community-based research in Nashville.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Douglas Landsittel, PhD addressed researchers at the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance on Wednesday, Jan. 27, and discussed "Patient-Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR) and Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER)." Dr. Landsittel, who traveled from the University of Pittsburgh, laid out the general concepts of PCOR and CER, the methods they use and educational efforts taking place on their behalf.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. On Wednesday, Jan. 27, the Meharry Clinical and Translational Research Center (MeTRC) will present "Patient-Centered Outcomes Research and Comparative Effectiveness Research" at the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance. Douglas Landsittel, PhD, will be the featured speaker.
 
 The session is scheduled from noon until 1:30 p.m. in Conference Room B. Lunch will be provided for the first 30 attendees.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. As part of a continuing effort to serve the surrounding community, members of the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance celebrated Martin Luther King, Jr. Day by volunteering at the Hope Center in Nashville. The team members served lunch to women and children in need at the center and assisted with cleanup afterward.
