'Pulmonary Hypertension in 2017: Moving to Precision Medicine in a Rare Disease' scheduled for Jan. 11

NASHVILLE, Tenn. On Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, the Department of Internal Medicine will present Medical Grand Rounds, with Ann R. Hemmes, MD, Associate Professor in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center discussing "Pulmonary Hypertension in 2017: Moving to Precision Medicine in a Rare Disease." The lecture will be held from 12:10 - 1:10 pm in Lecture Hall 2 of the Kresge Learning Resource Center.  

Mavis Schorn named IPE Faculty Director for Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Mavis Schorn, CNM, PhD, FACNM was recently named Interprofessional Education and Inter-Institutional Collaborative Learning (IPE) Faculty Director for the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance. She brings decades of varied expertise in nursing and teaching to the role, with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Texas in Austin, a Masters Degree from Texas Women’s University, a Certification in Nurse Midwifery from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and a PhD from the University of Kentucky College of Nursing.

Dr. Juarez appointed as chair of Advisory Committee on Minority Health

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Office of Minority Health (OMH) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recently announced four new appointments and a new chair to the Advisory Committee on Minority Health. The Advisory Committee on Minority Health advises the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Minority Health on improving the health of racial and ethnic minority populations, and on the development of goals and program activities of OMH.
