Meharry Medical College will host live stream viewing of TED Med Live 2017 Nov. 1 – 3

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Meharry Medical College will host a live stream viewing of TED Med Live 2017 Nov. 1 – 3, 2017. The three-day conference will parallel various aspects of the TED conference, through networking opportunities and discussion panels. It will be held at the Cal Turner Family Center for Student Education, 1011 21st Avenue North, Nashville.

TED Med is the independent health and medicine edition of the TED conference, dedicated to ideas worth spreading. TED Med convenes and curates people and ideas from all disciplines both inside and outside of medicine in pursuit of unexpected connections that accelerate innovation in health and medicine.

The conference’s theme is “Limitless.”

Dr. Alex Lopez, an organizer for the event, says they want to have students think in ways that they have never thought before and approach some of the dilemmas of health care in an interdisciplinary fashion.

“We just want them to step out of their comfort zone and think in ways they might not originally, but also to leave inspired,” he said.  “Also, to obtain networking from other institutions, whether on research or to discuss topics they want to discuss further.”

Those interested in attending can register online at www.tedmed2017meharry.eventbrite.com. There is no charge. The event is sponsored by Perception Health.

“I love watching TED Talks,” Dr. Lopez commented, “and I usually learn something new about myself, or some cool new feature that’s out in the public. When I watch, I’m either in awe or filled with curiosity.”
