NASHVILLE, Tenn. Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance Executive Director Consuelo H. Wilkins, MD, MSCI said healthcare providers needed to be “embedded in the community" and work closely with community-based services in order to affect positive change and earn the trust of the communities they serve.

Dr. Wilkins was one of several speakers discussing ways to improve health outcomes for individuals and communities during Thursday’s audience participation and live-streamed web event produced by NEJM Catalyst and hosted by Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC).

Her article, "Precision Medicine for Everyone," was published on NEJM Catalyst's website on Feb. 12, 2018. In it, Dr. Wilkins discussed the need to create an environment where diverse patients are considered participants as partners.
