Dr. James E.K. Hildreth officially becomes MMC president, featured in Tennesseean

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Dr. James E.K. Hildreth officially became Meharry Medical College's 12th president on July 1. In an interview with The Tennesseean on his first day, Hildreth said he was inspired by the college's early leaders, when the first Meharry classes were taught in the basement of Clark Memorial United Methodist Church. To succeed, he said, he will have to evoke their entrepreneurial spirit.
