Digital Content Channels

Marketing and Engagement teams manage a number of digital content channels and tools that support communications with the public and with Vanderbilt Health employees.

In some cases, we manage the channel entirely, from strategy to content development to tactical management. For others, we support the technology or hold the vendor contract but are self-service.

  • Our department fully manages consumer/patient-facing websites with the primary purpose of helping users choose Vanderbilt Health for their family's care and make appointments. Our websites are a link between discovery in search or through our marketing efforts and the clinical setting.

Our award-winning sites are designed using the most current website and UX/design best practices, are based on primary and secondary research, and are built with an emphasis on the mobile user and data connections with search engines and other technologies.

    They include:

We manage the content directly for these sites, with the exception of provider and location details. Those data come from the Provider and Facility Database (PFD).

While we work very closely with our colleagues in Health IT to make sure the websites work well with other platforms, our department does not manage My Health at Vanderbilt or online scheduling systems.

Submit changes for these sites to Web/Digital Updates Request Form.

  • Many entities have need for a resource to support email marketing, whether a one-time send to announce an event or a recurring newsletter for a specific audience.

Your first step should be to investigate Adestra, part of the suite of digital products VUMC IT supports. However, if you find that Adestra won't meet your business needs, you may consider Emma under Marketing and Engagement's master contract. This "self-serve" option allows you to manage and send campaign-based emails to subscriber lists of varying sizes and analyze how your communications have performed.

This option requires covering cost of design as well as cost for distribution of emails. It also requires a manager of the sub-account who is proficient in email and content management technology.

To set up a sub-account, we need the following:

    • A cost center number to charge the one-time $100 setup fee
    • Name and email address of the primary sub-account user/manager
    • Names and email addresses of other sub-account users
    • Name for the sub-account (often the name of your department)
    • "From" or sender address that you will use for this sub-account. We recommend asking VUMC IT to create a unique VUMC email address to use for this purpose, and granting access to more than 1 member of your team to manage it.
    • Your department's full mailing address. This will appear in your email footers to comply with federal anti-spam laws.

Marketing and Engagement's creative services team can provide correctly-branded header and footer images for your email campaigns if needed. Our department must approve the use of any Vanderbilt word mark or logo that will be used in a campaign email.

Email Dan Kassis to request a sub-account.

The Emma platform is generally user-friendly, but note that we do not provide training or technical support for this tool. Emma also doesn't provide technical support for sub-account owners.

  • Our department holds an account with Eventbrite to manage free or paid events taking place in person or virtually, for any size of audience. Vanderbilt Birth Center, Vanderbilt Osher Center for Integrative Health, and the Division of Trauma / LifeFlight are a few of our more active Eventbrite users.

To use Eventbrite, your team or department will need an "organizer profile," which is a way to group and identify the events you want to publish and promote. Please provide:

    • Your team's or department's name
    • Names and email addresses of all intended users of the organizer profile

Each organizer profile must use an approved Vanderbilt logo or word mark as identification. Marketing and Engagement will supply the necessary graphic.

There is no cost to use Vanderbilt's enterprise Eventbrite account. Eventbrite will collect a service fee on each ticket or reservation you sell on an event. You can opt to absorb these fees or pass them on to your attendees.

Email Dan Kassis to set up a single-user account or departmental organizer profile.

We do not provide training or support for these services.
