Michelle Southard
Michelle is the Community Health Program Manager with the Office of Health Equity. In her role, Michelle works with stakeholders in Vanderbilt’s rural communities to address and reduce health care inequities.
Michelle’s previous work as a Homeless Housing Navigator with VUMC prepared her for her current role by giving her firsthand insight into the health outcomes of marginalized populations. Her role with the Office of Health Equity gives her the opportunity to share her experiences in direct patient care with leadership and community organizations while continuing to improve health outcomes for marginalized populations.
In addition to her role with VUMC, Michelle is a member of the Standards of Care Committee with the Davidson County Continuum of Care. The committee works to develop and maintain best practices for organizations serving those who are experiencing homelessness.
Michelle enjoys traveling, as well as spending time with family. She enjoys many outdoors activities, but has a special love for rock climbing.
