Go for the Gold Incentives - VUMC

Faculty and staff paying for VUMC Health Plan benefits on 1/1/2025 can earn a Wellness Credit and Platinum Benefit for completing Go for the Gold by October 31, 2024.

Faculty and staff not paying for the health plan are encouraged to participate in Go for the Gold to help maintain or maximize their health and well-being, but they will not be eligible for the Wellness Credit or Platinum Benefit.

Wellness Credit:

Go for the Gold Wellness Credit of up to $240/year (amount based on Go for the Gold level achieved) will be applied to your Health Plan Account with Aetna. See below how credit is applied based on your chosen plan:

Aetna Plus or Select - Your wellness incentive credit will be applied pretax and can be used to offset deductibles and coinsurance costs. The wellness incentive credit will be automatically applied and administered by Aetna. The wellness incentive credit cannot be applied towards copays and can only be used for medical insurance. To check your balance call Aetna at 800-743-0910, asking for your Employer Health Incentive credit balance.

Health Savers HSA - Your wellness incentive credit will be applied pretax to your Health Savings Account. The HSA allows you to contribute pretax dollars to pay for health care expenses, such as deductibles, copays and coinsurance. Your HSA debit card can be used to pay for qualified medical expenses at the doctor's office, clinic, or pharmacy. You can login to netbenefits.com/Vanderbilt to view you Go for the Gold incentive.

  • No. You must have earned the GOLD level of Go for the Gold by October 31, 2023 to receive the benefit for 2024. If you earn GOLD level Go for the Gold status by October 31, 2024, you will be eligible to receive the benefit for 2025.

  • No. This benefit only applies to members of the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center.

  • You must pay VRWC membership fees up front. The Platinum Benefit is a partial reimbursement of membership fees.

  • Only the employee who is the named subscriber to the VUMC health plan is eligible for membership fee reimbursement. If both spouses work for VUMC, complete GOLD level of Go for the Gold, and have separate health plans, then both would be eligible for reimbursement.

  • You will need to attend VRWC at least 30 days per quarter in 2024 to receive the partial reimbursement for the months that you are an active member of VRWC.

  • Quarters are based on the calendar year and include Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, Jul-Sep, Oct-Dec.

  • Employees attending VRWC at least 30 days per quarter in 2021 will be reimbursed $30 per month (taxable) for each month of the quarter that they paid membership fees.

  • If you attend VRWC at least 30 days per quarter in 2024, you will receive up to $90 quarterly (taxable) in your paycheck as partial reimbursement of membership fees for the quarter in which you paid membership fees.

  • The reimbursement will be paid quarterly after each quarter ends for the calendar year. The payment may take one to two pay periods to show up.

  • You can contact Payroll at payroll.vumc@vumc.org.

  • The VRWC membership rate is $135 quarterly ($45 per month) as of 1/1/2024. Please visit the VRWC website for current membership rates.

  • Regardless of when you join, if you attend the VRWC 30 days by the end of a quarter you will be reimbursed $30 per month for each month of the quarter that you paid VRWC membership fees. For example, if you join VRWC in February 2024 and attend 30 times by the end of March 2024, you will receive $30 per month for the months you paid fees (February and March) for a total of $60 (taxable) partial reimbursement.

  • As VUMC does not own VRWC, the Internal Revenue Service requires this benefit to be taxed.

  • If you attend VRWC fewer than 30 days in a quarter you will not receive that quarter's partial reimbursement. You will, however, remain eligible to earn the partial reimbursement in any successive quarters in 2024.

  • In order to receive the partial reimbursement you must be an active employee at the time of reimbursement.

  • You will use your VUMC badge to swipe into a separate card reader to register your days at VRWC. Therefore, you will have to swipe in twice: once at the front of the facility to enter VRWC as a paid member and again at the brick column next to the stairwell to track attendance for reimbursement. You are responsible for your attendance being recorded.

  • The VUMC card reader is located inside VRWC on the brick column next to the stairwell on your right after you swipe into the facility.

  • No. However, if there is a dispute concerning your attendance record, you should contact Human Resources Information Systems at hrsystems.vumc@vanderbilt.edu. Provide your name, VUnet ID and date of visit for verification.

  • You only receive credit for one visit per day; multiple badge taps on the same day will not be counted.
