Camila Lyon is an Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University in the Department of Anesthesiology, a fellowship-trained Pediatric Anesthesiologist, member of the Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health (VIGH), and faculty of the Vanderbilt Global Anesthesia Fellowship.
Camila is committed to humanitarian aid and to decrease health care inequality and improve health care delivery in low resource settings. She has volunteered for over 12 years for humanitarian projects. She currently conducts research in low-income countries, including assessment of anesthesia and surgical infrastructure, global pain burden, access to trauma interventions, peri-operative mortality rates, and resuscitation training. She is involved in multiple health capacity strengthening projects including imPACT Africa - a project to train Kenyan nurse anesthetists - anesthesia and trauma education in Mozambique, and partnerships with Liberia and Nigeria hospitals for improving care. Camila is an active member of the Alliance for Surgery and Anesthesia Presence, the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia's Committee on International Education and Service, and an expert in the World Health Organization Global Initiative for Emergency and Essential Surgical Care Committee.
