Teams tackle issues of mental health in post-revolution Egypt in 2013 Global Health Case Competition

The Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health Student Advisory Council hosted its third annual Global Health Case Competition from February 13-16, 2013. Thirteen multidisciplinary teams composed of undergraduate, graduate, and professional students from eight schools across the university competed in the event, tackling a complex, real-world challenge of global significance.

Registration Open for CUGH Conference

The Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) will bring together more than one thousand committed leaders, professional educators, and students from diverse fields of study including engineering, business, law, policy, chemistry, biology, communications, nursing, public health, medicine, oral health, and environmental studies to explore, discuss, and critically assess the global health landscape.
 
 The Fourth Annual CUGH Conference will be held March 14-16, 2013 in Washington, D.C. Registration is currently open.

Reminder: Information Session for Vanderbilt Global Health Case Competition

VIGH's Student Advisory Council and World on Wednesdays will host an information session for the upcoming Global Health Case Competition this Wednesday, November 7, 12 - 1 p.m. in the Student Life Center Lower Level Meeting Rooms one and two. The goal of the case competition is to foster critical analysis and thoughtful action.

The Fulbright Academy Summit on Global Health

The gestation period for a human embryo is about nine months, and the same might be true for the Fulbright Academy Summit. Our Summit on Global Health opens in nine months from today. The location is Montego Bay, Jamaica, and the dates are May 24-27, 2013. The Fulbright Academy’s mission is about "connecting and empowering Fulbright alumni to make greater impact than each can make alone."

World Refugee Day is June 20

This year the United Nations refugee agency launches a new campaign that features personal stories from refugees to raise awareness about the forcibly displaced and stateless. The campaign will carry the message that "One Refugee Without Hope is too Many." As a welcoming state, Tenneesee has given hope to over 337 refugees in 2012. Nashville becomes a new home for a majority of these displaced people, resettling upwards of 250 refugees this year.
