Country Director, Mozambique

t_ntasisThemos Ntasis serves as the Country Director for Friends in Global Health (FGH). Under his leadership, FGH has expanded and improved HIV care and treatment services in nearly all districts of  Zambézia Province by building relationships with the Ministry of Health and donor agencies, and successful implementation of new programs. 

Prior to joining FGH in 2015, Dr. Ntasis designed, managed and directed development programming for International Relief and Development as the Regional Director for Africa. In this role, he focused on economic growth, nutrition, WASH and humanitarian assistance programs for Malawi, Uganda, South Sudan, Somalia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique and worked with USAID, WFP, UNICEF among others. He is fluent in Portuguese, English and Greek. 

Dr. Ntasis completed his Ph.D. at the National Technical University of Athens in Greece and received his MPH from Columbia University in New York.

Julie Lankford, MBA

lankford_webSince 2001, Julie Lankford has served as a global operations and program management specialist for U.S. Government and other international donor-funded projects focused on economic and health development. In this capacity, she has been responsible for projects in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Central America, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon, Uganda, Kenya, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Bulgaria and the Middle East. Ms. Lankford joined the Vanderbilt team in 2008 and is currently serving as the Chief Manager of Friends in Global Health, LLC as well as the Director of Global Health Initiatives for Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). Julie received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern California and holds a MBA from Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Business.
