Research Mentor: Wei Zheng,M.D., Ph.D.
After working as a biostatistician in cancer research for few years, collaborating with basic scientists, surgeons, pathologists, and epidemiologists, I feel more and more interested in the content of the studies. I am always interested in learning about the development of the disease, and how the interventions work. I have come to believe that I could make a more significant and purposeful contribution to disease prevention and healthcare improvement through advanced training in cancer epidemiology. I am currently working on various cancer studies under the mentorship of Dr. Wei Zheng.
Vanderbilt's epidemiology program is unique in existing at the center of a research enterprise, rather than isolated within any single department or school, thus providing students ample resources and valuable opportunities to learn from and work with exceptionally productive researchers. I feel confident of my competence in handling all requirements of the program, and equally confident that the program will equip me for a life devoted to research in epidemiology.
