VUMC Diversity Liaison Committee

In 2019, VUMC’s Office for Diversity Affairs established a 40-member Diversity Liaison Committee to further entrench diversity and inclusion work in each major department of the medical center. Each department has named a diversity champion who will steward best practices. Executive leaders and leadership from VUMC’s employee resource groups are also represented in the committee.

The Diversity Liaison Committee meets quarterly to discuss new resources, ideas, and information relating to diversity initiatives. Committee members have shared toolkits for increasing diversity and inclusivity in hiring practices and demonstrated the work that has been done to ensure that VUMC has a diverse vendor supply chain. Through this sharing of ideas and perspectives, the Diversity Liaison Committee empowers members to become stronger advocates in promoting diversity and inclusion in their departments, resource groups, and VUMC as a whole.
