Ms. Hanchrow is a Registered Nurse with 28 years of experience, and she obtained a B.S.N. from Birmingham-Southern College, and a M.S.N. University of Alabama at Birmingham.  Liz first started at Vanderbilt in 2001 working in inpatient and adult clinic areas as a staff nurse. Prior to focusing on Informatics, her varied clinical background included Oncology, Cardiology/Gastroenterology, Pediatric Urology, and Women’s Health as a staff nurse. Before joining our department in 2014, Liz worked in the Informatics Center on the Enterprise Clinical Decision Support team as an Informatics Nurse/Evidence Based Medicine Specialist.  Her primary focus was on providing HEO Wiz Order CPOE EBM Order Set support to all adult VHVI Heart, Oncology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, and General Surgery inpatient teams. Her current responsibilities include development and validation of  annotation guidelines, as well as annotation of medical records to support development and evaluation of Natural Language Processing tools.
