Kecia N. Carroll, MD, MPH, Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of General Pediatrics, is an epidemiologist with a primary research interest in prenatal and early life exposures and child health, primarily asthma.  She completed medical school at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, pediatric residency at the University of California, San Francisco, and a General Academic Pediatrics Research Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  In her NIH-funded research program, Dr. Carroll uses large, administrative databases and prospective cohort studies to understand how adverse exposures (including prenatal stress and environmental toxicants) and potential protective factors (prenatal nutritional exposures) during critical periods of development influence disease risk with the long-term goal to decrease morbidly or prevent disease in children.
