Welcome

Welcome to the Dietetic Internship (DI) program at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC).  We are excited to share with you our innovative program for training Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs). Students in the 2023-2024 class will earn a master’s degree and complete a Dietetic Internship (MEd/DI).

VUMC has aligned with Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College of Education and Human Development to offer a 30 credit, capstone-based masters that can be completed in 5 semesters.  Graduate courses are a blend of on-campus and on-line components. The length of the MEd/DI and staging of courses supports a student's ability to balance academics concurrently with 1200 hours of Dietetic Internship training in clinical and health promotion practice settings.

Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College is a world-class college of education and human development.  Peabody’s core mission is to enhance the human condition through cutting-edge research, through service to families, communities, and through preparation of professionals working in a range of organizational contexts. At Peabody, you will build on your dietetic internship and learn to integrate current research and evidence-based practice with sensitivity to social and environmental determinants of health at the individual, organizational, and system levels.

Upon completion of the MEd/DI, students are eligible to take the credentialing exam for Registered Dietitian Nutritionists.  For the past 3 years, graduates have a 97.8% pass rate on the credentialing exam within one year of their first attempt.
